On the Advice of my Astrologer...

First of all, Happy Easter to you all!

Yesterday I had a two-hour consultation with Benjamin Bernstein who hosts the weekly podcast "It's All Good Astrology". You can find/subscribe to his podcast by searching for it on iTunes. First of all, let me say that his podcast is absolutely amazing. I discovered it a few months ago and have been hooked ever since.

Something you might not know about me, since I don't remember ever blogging about it, is that when I was a teenager I was very much into astrology. I took classes on astrology for about two years and did a lot of studying on my own. This interest lasted until I started having children and by the time #4 (Matt) was born, I had very little time to pursue this and finish college. Nonetheless, it's something I go back to from time to time. Now being one of those times, except this is more than a brief "I wonder what's going on astrologically" phase.

I had been wanting to have my chart professionally read because, frankly, I didn't remember much of what I learned 20+ years ago - I can't even remember what my sons' charts are like - and because, as in any discipline, more knowledge is added and I just haven't kept up.

The reason I had not is because I have to trust that the astrologer reading my chart is knowledgeable, perceptive, accurate and someone I think I can "connect" with. I wouldn't just pick someone at random. Even a recommendation from someone else isn't enough for me because I have to have some level of trust before I can reveal something I view as very private.

So after a few months of listening to his podcasts, I signed up for his online mentoring class. I thought it would be a good opportunity to dive into astrology once again.

In the meantime, I changed jobs. More on that on a future post. I realized that I wasn't going to have sufficient time/energy to learn a new job and study astrology, so the mentoring fee was applied towards an individual consultation.

I'm extremely happy with the consultation. It has given me a lot to think about. It's amazing how the years pass, our lives change, and parts of ourselves just become forgotten. I remebered a lot about myself and, because of it, I'm steering in a different direction. Not because the astrologer said I should do this or that, but because I remembered things that were important to me and I now want to pursue them.
Such as writing. Which is why I'm back. I'll do another post about stitchy stuff.
