Weekend Stitching!

Joining the International Hermit & Stitch Weekend for the first time!

I will be stitching on The Mermaid and on the Rainbow Borders piece. I'm busy all next weekend, so I really need to make some headway if I'm going to meet my goals for this month!

Snapper Borders

This weekend  I managed to make some progress on the Snappers piece - I completed the solid border and started stitching with the Whitewash floss on the December piece.

For the first time in a long while I believe I may soon finish this!

Rainbow Borders - Row 26

Completed one more row - not sure if I'm going to be able to finish 4 rows this month.  Somehow I got it in my head that I was planning to finish only 3.

It's a very long project and I'm struggling with how I'm going to finish it.  I don't want to frame it.  I'm pretty sure about that.

A FINISH! YAY!!!

Completed this piece from Lizzie Kate's Home-Work! Not sure when I started to stitch this, I think it might have been the 90s!  I found this and, since there wasn't much to stitch, I decided to finish it.

Now I have to think about what to do with it!

September Stitching Goals

My goals for September are very conservative.  Not yet back in the full swing or speed of things, I don't want to overreach.  Prefer to make things easy. I do this for enjoyment, not to stress myself out with deadlines.

Based on the pieces I have in progress, September goals are as follows:

1) Rainbow Borders - finish four borders
2) Paradigm Lost - complete the small motifs below "LMN" on the sampler
3) BC Snappers - finish the border to the end & December Swirls
4) Home-Work -  finish this
5) Mermaid sampler - complete top 30 rows

August was about going through the stash, fully organizing it, and getting rid of charts that I no longer want to stitch. That was quite an ordeal!  I hope to continue to purge through the chart stash in September.  Even after this culling, I have more than I can possibly stitch in this lifetime, even if I were to retire tomorrow and devote myself to stitching, which isn't going to happen.  I'm too young for this and have far too many other interests!  The culling will continue through September, as I have the time. I still have many charts I scanned from magazines and also freebies I've picked up here and there.

I've also started a near future collection.  As I went through the chart stash, I put aside any that I would like to stitch soon.  I'm hoping that this "high priority" collection will make me think twice before any new purchases, but no promises.

Good news is that I have a new finish to post, and I'll also update the side with two more finishes from this year.  Below is "Five Golden Rings" from Cross Eyed Cricket. I realized that the reason I had stopped stitching this was because I had make a few mistakes on the bells.  I decided against frogging the piece and stitching over.  It's now finished, flaws and all.

I still have seven more ornaments to complete the series and I'm hoping I'll have time to stitch the 6th one before the end of the year.
