Good News!

I'm happy to report that the car was in great condition. Very dirty, but otherwise intact.

You would think that after calling the impound every weekday for two weeks I would know exactly everything I needed to get the car out quickly. Think again.

We arrived in Miami almost half an hour before the impound opened. So we waited. It opened promptly at 8 and there were no other people there waiting for it, so I was hopeful that I would get in and out of there very fast. But no...

Come to find out that even though Nick's license is listed on the car's registration, and the police can access this information, he still has to provide the registration in order to get the car. Not sure why that is. So at that time of the morning, we needed to find a tag agency that would issue a duplicate because, for whatever reason, the glove compartment was completely empty.

We get back from this little errand and then discover that we can't pay there. Even though Nick is the victim, the city assesses a towing fee and an administration fee, which has to be paid in cash, for which I was already prepared. But there's one catch, you got to go to the police station, to the Property Dept to be more specific, to pay these fees, and then come back and show the receipt to get the car.

Bear in mind that this is Miami, an even though the Police Station was just 5 or 6 blocks away, it's a major ordeal to 1) navigate the streets that are mostly one way, 2) find a place to park, and 3) wait in line along with the many others doing the same thing.

But we got the car, and I got back to work and now we won't have to do it ever again. I hope.

Resolution

Tomorrow we finally pick up Nick's car. It was found on the 7th but it has taken 2 wks for the Miami PD to process. We have no idea what condition it is in, or even if it's drivable. I guess we'll find out pretty soon.

On another note, we did this prank on a co-worker that went on vacation for two weeks to Amsterdam. She was attending a heavy metal concert. We turned her desk into a pink Disney princess wonderland.

She was turning the princesses goth with a black marker. I'm glad she enjoyed our prank!

Wednesday

Yesterday I did not stitch. My son was carjacked in Miami - he's fine - but it tied up my night. By the time I got home, I was exhausted and stitching was the last thing on my mind.
Will stitch tonight, take a pic, and post tomorrow.
Hugs, y'all

More Mojo!

I'm so glad I am doing this. I cross stitch every day now because I know it's just going to be one strand and it's not going to take a whole lot of my time. This really is a great way to work on a big project, but it's also a great way to work up some lost stitching mojo. Blogging about it is a good way to get some blogging mojo. It seems I've been all out of mojo lately!

This is what I stitched yesterday:

I think once I finish the motif I am working on - which calls for quite a bit of backstitching - I will go back and do the backstitching on all the motifs that need it.
Also yesterday, I went to my LNS's weekly SAL where I picked up the first two of Lizzie Kate's Christmas Double Flips as well as the cutest kit ever by her "Normal is just a setting on the washer" I can't wait to stitch this one!

Monday's Work

Can't believe it's been two weeks since I started this. I think I've made pretty good progress! I'm about a third down the right side. Soon I'll have to start with some back stitching - been putting it off.
